What Are Planner Stickers and How to Use Them

If you have seen our free planner stickers and are not sure what they are or how to use them, read on! We have both digital and printable planner stickers here at Makebreaks, and we’ll outline below how to use them.

Planner stickers are small adhesive labels that can be used to decorate and organize a planner, bullet journal or calendar or small graphics optimized for digital use which can be used in digital planners and digital bullet journals. They come in a variety of designs and can be used to mark appointments, events, or tasks, as well as to add visual interest to the pages of your planner. Some popular uses for planner stickers include marking important dates, tracking daily habits, and categorizing tasks by color or icon. To use planner stickers, simply peel them off the backing and stick them onto the appropriate pages in your planner or add them to your digital planner page.

Digital Planner Stickers

Digital planner stickers are essentially the same as physical planner stickers, but they are designed to be used with digital planning tools, such as apps on a tablet or smartphone, or in a web-based planner.

Digital stickers are usually in the form of image files, such as PNG or JPG, and can be imported into digital planning apps or software. They can be used in the same way as physical stickers, to decorate and organize your digital planner, mark appointments, events or tasks, and add visual interest to the pages of your planner.

To use digital planner stickers, you will need a digital planning app or software that allows you to import and use image files. Apps such as Goodnotes or Evernote are popular among the digital planning community and there are also free options available such as Xodo (which has a free plan).

Once you have the app or software, you can import the stickers by either downloading them from a website or opening them from a folder on your device. Once the stickers are imported, you can drag and drop them onto the appropriate pages in your digital planner, resize and move them as needed.

It’s worth noting that there are also apps and software specifically designed for digital planning and they come with their own set of stickers and templates, so you don’t have to import them.

How do I make my own planner stickers?

There are several ways to make your own planner stickers, whether you want to create physical stickers or digital stickers. We have a free template to help you make stickers quickly and easily.

Make your own stickers with our template

In addition to using a template, there are a few other methods you can try:

Physical stickers: To make physical stickers, you will need a printer, clear or white adhesive label paper, and a cutting tool such as scissors or a cutting machine. First, design your stickers using a graphics program or by hand. Then, print them onto the adhesive label paper and cut them out using your cutting tool.

Digital Stickers: To make digital stickers, you will need a graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or Canva. First, create your design using the software of your choice. Once your design is complete, export the file as a PNG or JPEG and import it into your digital planning app or software. Remember, if you want transparent backgrounds to you can layer your sticker over other graphics, using PNG format with transparent background is best.

Free Procreate Brush to Make Your Own Stickers

Hand-drawn Stickers: You can also make planner stickers by drawing or painting them by hand, then scanning them and printing them on adhesive paper or use it as a digital sticker.

Repurpose existing items: You can also repurpose existing items such as washi tape or die-cuts, by cutting them into small shapes, or adding them to your planner. We have some free printable washi tape you can try 🙂

It’s worth noting that, depending on the method you choose, you may need to purchase additional materials such as adhesive label paper or graphic design software. Additionally, if you’re creating digital stickers, make sure to check the size and resolution requirements of the digital planning app or software you’re using, to ensure the stickers will look good when imported.

How to Print Planner Stickers

You can print planner stickers at home using a printer. The most common paper used for printing planner stickers is clear or white adhesive label paper. This is a type of paper that has a self-adhesive backing, which allows the stickers to stick to the pages of your planner or other surfaces.

When printing planner stickers, it’s important to make sure that you have the right size and resolution for the stickers. Most digital planning apps or software have size and resolution requirements for the stickers, so make sure to check those before printing. You will also want to make sure that your printer is set to print on the correct paper type, usually “labels” or “sticker paper”.

It’s important to make sure that your printer settings are correct for the paper you are using. It’s also recommended to use a high-quality inkjet or laser printer, as these types of printers will produce better-quality stickers with sharper images and clearer text.

It’s also worth noting that some printer might have trouble with the adhesive paper and that you might have to test it with your printer before printing a bulk of stickers. Some printer might not print on the edge of the adhesive paper, so it’s also important to check this before cutting your stickers.

How to Cut The Printed Stickers

There are several ways to cut planner stickers that you’ve printed at home:

Scissors: The most basic method is to use scissors to cut out the stickers. This method is best for small quantities of stickers or for cutting out irregular shapes.

Paper cutter: If you have a paper cutter, you can use it to cut your stickers into neat, straight lines. This method is best for cutting out large quantities of stickers or for cutting out regular shapes such as squares or rectangles.

Cutting machine: A cutting machine, such as a Silhouette or Cricut, can be used to cut out your stickers with precision. This method is best for cutting out intricate designs or for cutting out large quantities of stickers quickly.

Punch: You can also use a hole punch to make circular stickers, you can use a punch with different shapes like stars, hearts, etc.

When cutting your stickers, it’s important to make sure that you are cutting on a clean, flat surface and that you are using a sharp blade. If you are using a cutting machine, make sure to use the appropriate settings for the paper and adhesive you are using.

Regardless of the method you choose, it’s important to be careful and take your time when cutting your stickers, to ensure that they are cut cleanly and accurately.

Tips For Using Planner Stickers

Here are some tips for using planner stickers:

Use them to highlight important events or tasks: Planner stickers are a great way to make important events or tasks stand out on your planner pages. Use different colors or shapes of stickers to indicate different types of events or tasks.

Organize your schedule: Planner stickers can also be used to help you organize your schedule. Use stickers to indicate different types of appointments, such as work, personal, or social events.

Decorate your planner: Planner stickers can be used to decorate and personalize your planner. You can use stickers to add a pop of color or to create a theme for your planner pages.

https://makebreaks.com/free-printable-habit-and-mood-trackers-roundup/

Be creative: Don’t be afraid to get creative with your planner stickers. You can use them in unexpected ways, such as layering multiple stickers on top of each other or cutting them into different shapes.

Don’t overuse them: While planner stickers can be a fun way to add some personality to your planner, it’s important not to overuse them. Too many stickers can make your planner pages look cluttered and difficult to read.

Use them in digital planner too: You can also use planner stickers in digital form, using apps or software like Goodnotes, Notability, or Procreate. With the digital form, you can resize and move the stickers around, also you can copy and paste them multiple times.

All About Digital Scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking is the process of creating a scrapbook using digital software and technology instead of traditional paper and adhesive materials. To start digital scrapbooking, you will need a computer and digital scrapbooking software. There are many options available, both free and paid, and many tutorials available online to help you learn the basics. Some popular digital scrapbooking tools include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Scrapbook MAX. You may also want to invest in a digital pen tablet to allow for more precise manipulation of digital elements.

What are the benefits of digital scrapbooking?

There are several benefits of digital scrapbooking:

  1. Convenience: Digital scrapbooking allows you to create scrapbooks from the comfort of your own home, without the need for physical materials or storage space.
  2. Versatility: Digital scrapbooking software offers a wide range of creative possibilities, including the ability to add text, photos, and digital elements to your pages, as well as the ability to change the layout, color and style of your elements.
  3. Easy to share: Digital scrapbooks can be easily shared with friends and family via email or social media, making it easier to share your memories with others.
  4. Cost-effective: Digital scrapbooking is a cost-effective option compared to traditional scrapbooking, as you don’t need to purchase physical materials, plus there are lots of freebies available from sites such as here at Makebreaks 🙂
  5. Easy to edit and backup: With digital scrapbooking, you can easily make changes to your scrapbook and even undo mistakes, and you can store your scrapbook in a digital format, which can be backed up easily.
  6. Accessible: Digital scrapbooking is a great option for those who may have difficulty handling traditional scrapbooking materials, such as older adults or individuals with mobility issues.

What type of graphics are best to use in digital scrapbooking projects?

When it comes to digital scrapbooking, there are a variety of graphics that can be used to enhance your pages and add visual interest. Some popular types of graphics include:

  1. Photos: The most common type of graphic used in digital scrapbooking is photographs. You can use your own personal photographs or you can use stock photos from websites such as Shutterstock, or freebies from Pixabay and Unsplash.

Ultimately, the graphics you choose will depend on your personal style and the theme of your scrapbook. It’s also important to remember that you can always experiment and try different things to find what works best for you.

What is the difference between jpg and png files when used in digital scrapbooking?

You will find that many graphics for digital scrapbooking are available in JPG and PNG formats. If you are starting out, you might find this confusing – so what are they and which should you use?

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) and PNG (Portable Network Graphics) are both types of image file formats that can be used in digital scrapbooking. The main difference between the two is how they handle image compression and transparency.

  1. JPEG: JPEG is a lossy image format, which means that it uses compression to reduce file size. When saving an image as a JPEG, you can adjust the level of compression, and the higher the compression, the smaller the file size will be, but the lower the quality of the image. JPEG is best for photographs and images with many colors, but not recommended for images with text or crisp lines because of the loss of quality.
  2. PNG: PNG is a lossless image format, which means that it does not use compression and the image will not lose quality when saved as a PNG file. PNG files support transparency and are best for images with text or crisp lines. PNGs are also best for elements with transparent background and graphics with a transparent background

In general, JPEG is best for photographs and images with many colors and PNG is best for images with text or crisp lines, graphics with transparent background, and elements with transparent background. PNG images with transparent backgrounds can be layered over other images without obscuring the image underneath.

PNG files allow you to overlay different elements on your digital scrapbooking layout without obscuring the image underneath

Ultimately, the choice between JPEG and PNG will depend on your specific needs and the type of image you are working with. It is also possible to use both file types in your digital scrapbooking project, depending on the image or element you are trying to use.

Tips for Getting Started with Digital Scrapbooking

Here are a few tips for successful digital scrapbooking:

  1. Plan your layout: Before you start designing your pages, it’s a good idea to plan out your layout. Think about the photos and elements you want to include and how you want them to be arranged on the page. This will help you to create a cohesive and visually pleasing design.
  2. Use layers: Digital scrapbooking software usually allows you to work with layers, which can be very helpful for organizing your elements and making changes to your design.
  3. Experiment with different elements: Digital scrapbooking software offers a wide range of creative possibilities, so don’t be afraid to experiment with different elements and techniques to find what works best for you.
  4. Be mindful of balance and composition: Keep in mind the principles of balance and composition when designing your pages. This will help to create a cohesive and visually pleasing design.
  5. Keep it simple: Sometimes less is more. Avoid adding too many elements or using too many different colors, patterns, and fonts. This can make your page look cluttered and overwhelming.
  6. Back up your work: Always make sure to save your work frequently and back up your digital scrapbook files to a different location or device, in case of computer crashes or other issues.
  7. Have fun: Remember that digital scrapbooking is a creative hobby, so have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to try new things and make mistakes.
