How to Make Planner Stickers Using Affinity Designer for iPad
Download the sticker template to your iPad (or download it to your desktop and transfer the file to your iPad using your preferred method).
Import the file to Affinity Designer for iPad (this will depend on how you transferred the file, if you downloaded the file directly to your iPad, you will find it in photos, if you uploaded it to iCloud, you’ll import the file from here).
This will create a new document with the sticker template as the background layer.
We want to create a new layer to which we can add decoration.
Click on the + icon in the layers panel and create a new vector layer. Drag this layer beneath the sticker template layer.
You can now use the shape tools to add shapes and decor to create your stickers.
I’m assuming you know your way around Affinity Designer, however, if you are new to Affinity Designer and would like to learn how to create shapes, add gradients and texture etc, check our our tutorial showing how to make monster stickers 🙂 In this tutorial we cover many of the basics of using Affinity Designer.
Download the template and import it into Procreate. Add a new layer for the design.
Select any brush (I used the oil brush which is part of the Procreate standard brushes). Paint a range of patterns and colors over the background.
Go the adjustments panel (the magic wand icon at the top left) and select liquify. You will see at the bottom of the screen, a set of tools opens with different options. Each of these will move the colors around. Try using a combination of the Twirl tool and Push tool to create a marble effect and don’t forget to experiment with the other tools!
If you want to add an opaque box over your background, create a new layer, paint a shape in white and then go to the layer panel, tap on the ‘n’ in the layer with the white shape, and then change the opacity as required.
TIP: an easy way to create a straight edged rectangle is to draw the rectangle, holding your finger or stylus down without lifting it when you have finished. Procreate will automatically straighten the lines after a couple of seconds.
To export your document, just select ‘share’ and choose your desired format.
And you’re done 🙂 Now just print the page onto adhesive paper or good quality printing paper if you plan to use adhesive to adhere the stickers to your planner page.
Do you want to create your own unique stickers for your planner using the iPad app, Procreate? It’s super easy to do, and you can create stickers with your own drawings or doodles, painted patterns, with just simple colors to match your planner – or any combination of design ideas!
1/ Download the template to your iPad, either to photos or to files. If you are using a desktop to read this page, download the template and then load it to your iPad using Dropbox or iCloud. It’s such a small file, you can also email it to yourself and open it on your iPad.
2/ Open Procreate
Select the ‘Import’ option to import the template into a new document.
3/ Open the Layers panel
Open the layers panel (the little squares icon at the top right). You will see the template has been loaded on a new layer above the background. The sticker shapes are actually transparent, which you will see if you change the colour of the background layer, or make it invisible.
We want to create a design UNDER the template. Therefore we need to create a new layer.
Click on the + icon to create a new layer. Make sure the new layer is UNDER the template layer. If not, in the layers panel, drag the new layer so it is under the template layer.
You can now decorate the new layer and the pattern will show through the sticker template as you can see in the image below (want to know how to make a marbled effect background in Procreate? Super easy to do, check out our free tutorial HERE)
When you are finished and happy with the results, just export your image and print onto adhesive paper or good quality printing paper if you plan to adhere the stickers to your planner using adhesive.
Ideas for Decorating Your Planner Stickers in Procreate
Here are some ideas for decorating your planner stickers:
Pick a few different brushes and just paint some squiggles to create an organic pattern.
Doodle flowers or characters into each box
Write a motivational phrase or word into each section
Insert a photo (go to the wrench tool at the top left to add an image) – an image of sky or clouds would make a create set of stamps.
Make your own planner stickers! This free printable planner sticker template will help you create planner stickers sized 1.5 x 1.9″ which are great for a variety of templates including Erin Condren, Happy Planner etc.
Make Stickers In Procreate, Affinity Designer, Photoshop, GIMP etc
You will need an application which uses layers to use this template. This means you can use desktop applications such as Photoshop – or, if you love digital art and digital painting, you can also use iPad apps such as Procreate and Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. As long as your favorite creative app uses layers, you can use this template.
How to Use This Sticker Template
This template is super simple to use. Just add it as a layer on top of your design layer. Draw illustrations, create a patterned background or even make a marbled effect (in Procreate).
When you have finished your design, just save the document as a JPG or PNG and print onto adhesive paper (or plain paper and use an adhesive to attach the stickers to your planner).
These free printable planner stickers are free for you to print and download. These stickers will print on letter or a4 paper. Print the images on a single sheet of paper or self-adhesive paper. You can then cut them to size.
Free Erin Condren Planner Printable Stickers
These stickers will fit planners such as the Erin Condren Planner, Happy Planner and can be added to bullet journals and other planners and diaries.
Included in this set are the 6 printable sticker pages as shown above. Each is saved as a separate jpg file, so you can print one or more as you desire.
Printing Tips
Do not use ‘fit to page’ or change the size of the image when printing (opt for ‘real size’ or similar)
Print onto good quality paper if you are going to use adhesive to attach stickers to your pages
Print the page onto a4 or letter size paper and trim to size or use self-adhesive paper
